Playtesting and Con prep!

It's been a while since I've posted anything, but I thought I'd share that just last week I held another round of playtesting which went really well. One thing I'd been refining of late was the character generation. And while it still had some rough edges, I think we've ironed those out. I do need to update the player handout though to make things more clear. 

We also had a solid test of the space magic rules. At least, I was confident enough from feedback that I can go ahead and finish the two spellcasting character classes (Astrocaster and Starlocke) and the remaining spell lists. 

Combat was also tested and goes pretty fast and furious! 

Finally, I'll be running a lot of these rules at Con of the North. I think there's still tickets left if you're planning on going this year. If not, at least swing by the Saturday Night Space Opera room and say hello and ask me your questions about the game!

Rad Astra returns to Con of the North!

You guys! I'm working on a brand new adventure for the next Con of the North! This one is set in a "closed" solar system with some savory post-apocalyptic flavoring.

Online event registration has yet to go live, but it's tentatively scheduled for Saturday, February 13 at 6:00 p.m. Stay tuned for confirmation and updates. Here's the description (it's a bit choppy but they only give you 400 characters):

Title: Rad Astra: Pedal to the Metalstar
Description: Join a band escaped prisoners on the run from Imorta Jove, a tyrannical despot who rules the Junkyard Moons. Only a famed hyperspace key will unlock the jumpgate to escape the system. Face a horde of War-boids, scraplord gangs, and cosmic storms. What a lovely day to meet your mates in Van-Helya! Rules light, mashup of 70s/80s space opera with your fave roadwarrior flicks. Custom classes provided.

Play Rad Astra at Con of the North!

I'll be running a Rad Astra game at Con of the North, which takes place the second weekend in February. I'm looking for six players to go nuts in a short, but power-packed 2-hour adventure. Here's the description:

RAD ASTRA: Gonzo, Space Adventure!
Pack your ray blaster, charge your laser sword and take off on a far-out, interstellar adventure! Get set for a rules-light, mash-up of sci-fi B-movies, 70s space opera TV, and Bronze Age comics. You're the galaxy's last hope on a do-or-die mission against a horde of savage space vikings, alien astrosassins, and sinister space wizards! Your swashbuckling, Saturday night space opera is here baby!   

Pre-gen character templates based on the standard X-plorers classes (Soldier, Scout, Technician, and Scientist) will be supplied so we get straight to the good stuff. The game is set for 6:00 p.m., Saturday, the 14th. If that sounds like something you'd like to play, come join us!
